Week 3
Vespira
Vespira is the name of a wandering
theme park in the shape of a flower that opens only during nighttime. The story
is set in the 20th century during the Günisian war that lasted
around a 100 years and involved the vast majority of the world’s countries. Eventually,
this war drastically divided the social statuses and left the common folk
experiencing a devastating crisis. The park was made by Captain Jean Fêbrê with
the purpose to entertain and bring a smile to others no matter the outcome. With
the help of a team of talented entertainers called The Red Lillies, Fêbrê and
his crew grant a wish to one lucky visitor once every one hundred years.
The origins of Vespira and its
owner are a mystery but it is said that the flower places itself in cities that
recently faced adversity, if removed; the park will go onto the next city. The
park plants itself in strategic points of different cities in order to test its
inhabitants and their ability to be a progressive community, always looking
after a bearer of a humble heart to grant a wish to. The wish can be related to anything but if
asked the war to end, another one comes along, meaning this has to be sorted
out naturally.
The theme park is designed to look
like a flower with six petals, each one containing an attraction with a seventh
and main one in the middle. Each petal
is monitored by one of the members of the Red Lilies, they are in charge of
entertaining the visitors and monitoring the attractions. The main attraction is the Mirage Stigma; a tower
found in the middle of the park that contains two observation decks and a main
observatory. It also functions as a radio that plays background music for the
park. At the bottom of the tower, some
live performances are held twice per night, from dancing to acrobatics people
gather to witness a show full of charm! Besides being in charge of the park, Fêbrê
is in charge of managing the tower, the ambiance, and who is allowed to enter.
Fêbrê, also called “Le sorcier“ is a man that has much charisma
and is kind of a trickster. He takes interest in others who show a great
passion for the arts and tries his best to recruit them to join his crew. He is
a charmer and speaks quite a lot in order to get what he wants, sometimes
giving away too much and in order to avoid so, his teammates are there to shut
him up. He is dressed in a princely
fashion with a cloak that has flowers and stars as patterns. He also carries
with him a stick and points at everything with it.
The other rides are a carousel, a
house of mirrors, a pirate ship, bumper cars, a rollercoaster called Le
monstre, and the last one being a loop- o- plane. Each of the attractions are monitored by the
red Lilies: Virginia, Azelea, Glacmer, Tibaltha, Monserrat, Dianne, and Axur
respectively. In between the minor
roles, some other members of the crew entertain visitors euphorically. Each one of the Red Lilies has very quirky
personalities. Virginia is childish and sweet; Azalea very vain and judgmental;
Glacmer is ambitious and doesn’t take a no for an answer; Tibaltha is moody and
quiet, Monserrat is restless and creative, Dianne is explosive and has no patience,
and Axur is rigid and a little scary to the visitor’s eyes.
The park also offers food and
crafts to be sold, almost like a fair. It is colorful and full of flowers inside, with neon lights everywhere that makes the whole scenery magical. No wonder why Mr. Fêbrê gets his magician title, he is able to make everyone drop their jaws while being in here. The only downfall is that the park only stays in cities for three
days, saying its goodbye with a firework show and disappearing the morning
after.
